Welcome

Thank you for visiting my Web site. I am Judge Karen Simpson, and I have been serving you as your associate judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit for the past 12 years. I am running for election to Circuit Court Judge in the 3rd sub-circuit of the 16th Judicial Circuit.

Why I Am Running

In short, to have the capacity and influence to make constructive change. As a Circuit Court judge, I can have a much greater impact on our court system than I can now as an associate judge. In addition, I can make a difference by helping to establish new policy and by appointing future associate judges.

I have identified specific areas where improvements can be made to our current system. Working collaboratively with the other Circuit Court judges, I plan to:

  • Create a more efficient method of moving people through security lines, minimize long outdoor waits, and get people to their courtrooms on time, and
  • Reduce continuances and more efficiently move cases through our court system.

This, in turn, should help reduce costs across the board. Effective use of taxpayer dollars and providing an efficient court system are my top priorities for residents in this district.

My Commitment

Judges make serious decisions that affect people’s lives including freedom and liberties, guilt or innocence, liability and accountability, property and custody rights, financial obligation and much more. I also believe that hard working citizens like you have earned the right to expect ethical leadership, fairness and consistency, especially from judges, as well as your other elected officials.

I am committed to work diligently and conscientiously; to continue to be a student of the law and my own harshest critic. I will work tirelessly to be fair and impartial and I am committed to integrity over politics.

It continues to be a humbling honor to serve this community as an appointed judge for 12 years, and it would be an extraordinary honor to serve as your elected Circuit Court Judge. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I respectfully ask for your support and your vote on February 2, 2010.

Kind regards,

Judge Karen Simpson
